Researching demand and competition with the Keyword Explorer
Last updated onThe Keyword Explorer tracks 10M+ keywords across Etsy and tells you, for any one of them, how much demand there is and how hard it is to compete. Use it to decide which keywords are worth putting on your listings before you spend time optimizing for them.
One thing to keep in mind: these are keywords (the words sellers put in their titles and tags), not search terms (what a buyer types into Etsy). Etsy doesn't publish search volume, so you won't find that here. Instead we look at the listings competing on a keyword and what's happening to them.
Search a single keyword
Type in a keyword and you get a full read on it:
Competition: how many listings are positioned on this keyword.
Keyword difficulty: a 0 to 100 index of how hard it is to rank for it.
Average views and average favorites: the averages across the top 100 listings. Higher usually means more demand, unless those top listings are all very old (long-lived listings accumulate views over years, so read this alongside the trend).
Average and median price: what the competition is charging.
Estimated revenue: an estimate built from views and an estimated conversion rate.
Keyword trend: whether views on this keyword have been climbing or falling lately.
Market saturation: our quadrant chart, competition on the x-axis and demand on the y-axis. Green is high demand / low competition (the sweet spot), yellow is high demand / high competition, orange is low demand / low competition, red is low demand / high competition.

Find more keywords from one
Below the metrics you get three ways to branch out:
Similar keywords: keywords that share a root with the one you searched.
Linked keywords: keywords that naturally sit in the same space.
Related keywords: keywords often used alongside this one.
You also see the top listings currently using the keyword, so you can see exactly who you'd be up against.

Compare keywords side by side
Switch to compare mode to line up two or more keywords next to each other. Each one shows its demand, competition, and headline metrics at a glance, so you can quickly pick the strongest of a set before committing it to a listing.
