Why an Etsy fee calculator matters

Etsy looks cheap on the surface. A $0.20 listing fee and a 6.5% transaction fee sound manageable. In reality, by the time you factor in payment processing, offsite ads, shipping label costs, and your COGS, a $20 sale can leave you with less than $5 in net profit. Sellers who do not run the numbers end up funding their shop instead of growing it.

This calculator stacks every fee Etsy charges against your costs so you can see your real margin before you set a price. It is the same math seasoned sellers run before launching a new product, before discounting an old one, and before spending on Etsy Ads or relying on offsite ads.

How Etsy fees work in 2026

• Listing fee: $0.20 USD per active listing, charged when you publish or renew, and again every four months or after a sale.
• Transaction fee: 6.5% of the total order amount, including the item price, shipping, and gift wrap.
• Payment processing fee: a percentage plus a flat fee, varying by country. In the US, Etsy Payments charges 3% + $0.25 per transaction.
• Offsite ads fee: 15% of the order total when Etsy generates the sale through an offsite ad (12% for shops at or above $10,000 in annual sales). Optional below the $10k threshold, and capped at $100 per attributed order.
• Etsy Ads: Etsy Ads are pay-per-click, so this calculator estimates them with TACOS, your ad spend as a percentage of total order revenue.
• Regulatory operating fees: a small percentage applied in some countries to cover local regulations. Not included in this calculator.

How to use the calculator

1. Enter your sales price and what you charge for shipping.
2. Add a discount if you are running a sale, in either dollars or percent.
3. Enter your COGS, meaning what the item costs you to make, source, package, or fulfill, plus what you pay to ship it.
