Etsy Fee Calculator Australia

If you sell from Australia, Etsy takes a 6.5% transaction fee, 3% + A$0.25 for processing on Australian orders (4% + A$0.25 on international ones) and USD 0.20 per listing. There's no regulatory operating fee. Then it adds 10% GST to all of it unless you've given Etsy a VAT ID. On an A$30 sale, that's about A$3.73 in fees, not the A$3.39 the listed rates add up to.

Both columns are an A$30 order to an Australian buyer, with no shipping charged and no ads. GST is the only line that changes. The biggest fee isn't GST, though. It's the transaction fee: A$1.95, more than half of Etsy's cut.

Processing is the one Etsy fee in Australia that depends on where your buyer lives. On this order it's A$1.15 for a buyer in Australia and A$1.45 for a buyer anywhere else, and GST on the difference adds another 3 cents. If a big share of your orders ship overseas, price for the 4% rate, not the 3% one.

Do you pay GST on Etsy fees?

Yes, on every fee, until you give Etsy a VAT ID. Etsy uses the name VAT ID in Australia too, even though the tax here is GST. Either way, an invoice arrives on the first of each month: it lists last month's fees and the GST Etsy charged on them, or says it charged none.

If you aren't registered for GST, that 10% is a cost: only registered businesses can claim GST credits, in their business activity statement (BAS). It comes off your margin, not your buyer's wallet, so it belongs in your price.

Rates from Etsy's Fees & Payments Policy, Etsy Payments Policy and Etsy Help Center, read on October 20, 2026. US dollar amounts converted at the European Central Bank's reference rate that day.

If your shop lists in US dollars, or any currency other than your payment account's, Etsy also takes a 2.5% currency conversion fee. The calculator also leaves out income tax and the one-time set-up fee Etsy may charge new shops.
