Etsy Fee Calculator Ireland

If you sell from Ireland, Etsy takes a 6.5% transaction fee, 4% + €0.30 for payment processing and USD 0.20 per listing. There's no regulatory operating fee. Then it adds 23% Irish VAT to all of those fees, and in Ireland, adding a VAT ID doesn't stop it. On a €20 sale, that's about €3.17 in fees, not the €2.58 the listed rates add up to.

Same €20 order in both columns, with no shipping charged and no ads. Etsy charges the €0.59 of VAT in both. Only one of these sellers gets it back.

The biggest line is the transaction fee, €1.30. If you're VAT registered, part of it is a fee on your own VAT: Etsy requires sellers in the EU to list prices with VAT included, then charges its transaction and processing fees on that price.

Can you stop Etsy charging VAT on its fees in Ireland?

No, and Ireland is the odd one out. Elsewhere in the EU, adding a VAT ID to Etsy stops the VAT on its fees. For Irish sellers, Etsy says it has to charge it anyway. An invoice arrives on the first of each month with last month's fees and the VAT charged on them.

What you can do is reclaim it on your VAT return, if you're VAT registered. If you aren't, that 23% is part of what Etsy costs you. It comes off your margin, not your buyer's wallet, so it belongs in your price. You have to register once your turnover passes €85,000 a year if you sell goods, or €42,500 if you only supply services, and you can choose to register below that.

Rates from Etsy's Fees & Payments Policy, Etsy Payments Policy and Etsy Help Center, read on October 21, 2026. US dollar amounts converted at the European Central Bank's reference rate that day.

If your shop lists in US dollars, or any currency other than your payment account's, Etsy also takes a 2.5% currency conversion fee. That isn't in the calculator, and neither are income tax or the one-time set-up fee Etsy may charge new shops. If you sell every day, running each sale through a calculator takes too long. Listadum's Profit Tracking, on the Growth and Max plans, imports your Etsy orders and their fees.
