Creating listing images with the AI Photo Studio
Last updated onThe AI Photo Studio generates new photos for a listing. You pick the kinds of images you want, answer a few questions about your product, and it produces them for you to review.
It's different from the AI Photo Editor. The Editor changes an image you already have. The Studio creates images that don't exist yet.
The Studio is in beta, and it uses AI credits during the beta like any other AI feature. Available on Growth and Max.
Each image costs 40 credits. So a run of five images costs 200 credits. You'll always see the exact cost before you generate anything.
Opening the Studio
Open any listing in the Listing Editor, scroll to the Photos section, and click AI Photo Studio at the bottom.
The Studio runs in four steps: Selection, Chat, Generate, Review.
Step 1: Selection
Pick the image concepts you want. Each one is a ready-made Etsy image type with a description of what it's for, so you're choosing a job rather than writing a prompt.

Select as many or as few as you want. The running credit cost updates as you select, and sits at the bottom of the screen next to Continue to Chat.
Step 2: Chat
The Studio already knows a lot about your product. It reads your listing title, description, tags, and existing images before it asks you anything.
What it can't work out, it asks. This is a short interview, usually about details that aren't written down anywhere: exact materials, dimensions, what's in the box, how something is finished.
Answer these properly. The interview is the main thing standing between you and images you have to regenerate.
Step 3: Generate
The Studio produces your images. Nothing is charged for a generation that fails.
If one of the results isn't right, you can re-prompt it and get a new version. Regenerating costs 40 credits per image, the same as the first attempt. There's no free retry.
Step 4: Review
You review what came back and choose what to do with it. You can add images to your listing, or replace existing ones.
Nothing is added to your listing automatically. If you close the Studio without adding anything, your listing is untouched.
Where your generated images go
Every image the Studio produces is saved to Library > Generated images, so closing the window doesn't lose your work. This is separate from raw images, which are the reference photos you give the AI to work from.
Generated images are kept for 30 days. If you want to keep one permanently, save it to your library with the + button before then.
Check the images before you publish
AI can make mistakes, and some concepts are riskier than others. Anything that puts text, numbers, or measurements into an image (Key benefits, Size with dimensions, What's included, Instructions and care) is worth reading word by word before it goes on your shop.
Look for the wrong dimensions, invented features, misspelled words, and details that don't match the product you actually ship. Etsy buyers will notice, and so will Etsy.
