A few weeks ago I wrote about how the way we interact with software is about to fundamentally change. Today I get to ship a piece of that vision.
The Listadum MCP integration is now live. You can connect your Etsy shop to ChatGPT, Claude, or any MCP-compatible AI assistant and start having actual conversations about your shop, right now.
What is MCP, in plain English?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. You don’t need to remember that. What you do need to know is what it means in practice.
You know how your phone has apps? And how those apps give your phone new powers it didn’t have before? MCP is basically the same idea, but for AI assistants. Instead of apps on a phone, you’re installing capabilities inside your ChatGPT or Claude. The moment you connect Listadum, your AI stops being a smart assistant with no context and becomes something that actually knows your shop.
Without MCP, asking ChatGPT for tag suggestions means getting confident-sounding guesses with no basis in reality. With Listadum connected, it can actually look up what keywords perform, check your listing scores, and give you recommendations grounded in real data.
That’s the difference.
Who is this for?
Honestly, anyone who already uses AI assistants in their day-to-day. If you’ve ever found yourself copy-pasting information from Listadum into ChatGPT to get help with something, this is for you. It removes the middleman.
That said, setting it up still requires a bit of technical comfort. It’s not complicated, but it’s not a one-click install either. My mum is not doing this yet. But if you’re the kind of seller who enjoys tinkering, or who already uses AI tools regularly, you’ll find your feet pretty quickly.
What you can do with it today
Once connected, your AI assistant can:
- Read all your listings and surface insights about them
- Check completion scores and flag which listings need attention first
- Update listing titles, descriptions and tags on your behalf
- Publish a draft listing without you touching the dashboard
- Pull your order history and review data
- Run keyword research, including demand and competition data
- Analyze competitor shops
- And more!
So instead of jumping between tabs, you can just ask. “Which of my listings has the worst SEO score and what should I fix?” “Rewrite the title of my top candle listing using better keywords.” “What are my competitors in the handmade jewelry space doing that I’m not?” Your AI handles the digging. You make the decisions.
How to set it up
The setup is the same regardless of which AI client you use. The Listadum MCP server URL is:
https://mcp.listadum.com
For Claude (claude.ai or Claude Code), you can add it directly in your MCP settings. For ChatGPT, go to Settings, then Apps, enable Developer mode under Advanced settings, and create a new app with the Listadum URL. One thing to note with ChatGPT: if it seems reluctant to use your tools, switching the chat to Thinking mode usually does the trick.
The full setup guide with step-by-step instructions for each client is in the help center.
The MCP integration requires the API Access add-on, which is $10/month on top of your existing Starter or Growth plan.
This is just the beginning
Right now you can read, research and make targeted updates. Creating listings from scratch through the AI is not there yet, and the range of write actions will keep growing. But what’s live today is already genuinely useful, and I’d rather get it into your hands now than wait until everything is perfect.
If you try it, I’d love to hear what you build with it.
