Why keyword density matters on Etsy

Etsy matches buyer searches with words in your title, tags, attributes and description. Keyword density shows whether you use the words buyers would use consistently across the listing.

How to use the checker

1. Paste your Etsy title, up to 140 characters.
2. Paste your 13 tags, separated by commas. Each tag can contain up to 20 characters.
3. Paste your description, ideally at least the first paragraph.
4. Analyze the listing. The report runs instantly in your browser.
5. Review the top keywords and phrases. They should match real buyer searches.
6. Check tag coverage and reinforce missing phrases naturally.
7. Trim any single word above roughly 5% density to avoid stuffing.

What good Etsy keyword density looks like

There is no public Etsy threshold. A useful pattern is to include the primary phrase once in the title, once as a tag and once or twice in the description.

Single words rarely need to appear more than four or five times in a normal listing. Above roughly 5% density, the copy often feels repetitive.

Consistency between titles and tags matters. When a multi-word tag also appears in the title, Etsy receives a stronger signal about the listing.
