Pinterest is where buying decisions start. People plan weddings, dorm rooms, gardens, and parties there weeks before they open Etsy. That gap between pinning and buying is your window.
Every month I pull the biggest Pinterest movers, match them to things you can actually sell on Etsy, then check the real demand in Listadum before recommending anything. This is the July 2026 read. The percentages are the month-over-month rise in Pinterest searches as of July 1, so these are climbing, not peaking. You want to be early.
How to read this
Three quick rules before the list:
- A big percentage means “rising,” not “huge.” A term up 4,000% is often coming off a tiny base. A trend up 300% that thousands of people search beats it.
- Not every trend is a product. Some map straight to Etsy items. Others are a look or a moment, and your job is to sell the thing around it (the bandana, the luggage tag, the party favor).
- Pinterest shows the mood. Etsy shows the money. Always validate demand on Etsy before you make anything.
Under each trend below is a keyword breakdown from Listadum’s Keyword Explorer. Here is how to read those columns:
- Comp %ile: competition, 0 to 100. Higher means more crowded and harder to rank.
- Demand %ile: how much search traffic the keyword pulls versus everything else. Higher is better.
- 30d momentum: the change in views on the top listings over the last 30 days. Up means the keyword is heating up, down means cooling.
- Avg price: average price across the top 100 listings.
The keyword I’d chase for each trend is in bold. The sweet spot is high demand, lower competition, and rising momentum.

The pattern worth noticing: the obvious keyword for a trend is usually the most crowded one. The money is often in the close cousin next to it (a garden sign instead of botanical wall art, a college pennant instead of dorm decor, chocolate favors instead of a candy wrapper).

Vacation outfits (+4,000%)
Peak summer travel. You won’t sell the outfit, so sell the trip.
- Make: luggage tags, passport covers, travel journals, “beach please” totes, matching family shirts, printable packing lists.
- The play: demand is huge across the board here. “Custom luggage tag” keeps the same top-tier demand as the generic term but at slightly lower competition, and it’s rising.

Summer weddings hitting their stride. Sell the topper, not the cake.
- Make: custom cake toppers, cake charms, acrylic monograms, cake bunting, “Mr & Mrs” picks.
- The play: “wedding cake topper” has the strongest momentum and top demand. If you want a lower-competition entry, “cake charm” is the softest keyword here, though it’s cooling.

A styling trend you can supply directly.
- Make: custom-printed bandanas, silk hair scarves, hair accessory sets.
- The play: the bandana keywords are close in demand, but “silk hair scarf” has the lowest competition, the strongest momentum, and more than triple the average price. That’s the one to build around.

Garden searches climb every summer, and roses lead this month.
- Make: botanical wall art and prints, engraved garden markers and signs, pressed-flower keepsakes, “grow your own” kits.
- The play: botanical wall art is saturated (100 competition, cooling). “Garden sign” is the smarter play: near-top demand, strong momentum, and a healthier price.

Dorm bedding (+600%)
Back-to-school is early, and this one has a July deadline. Students shop about six weeks before move-in.
- Make: dorm wall art, custom name and neon signs, LED fairy lights, throw pillows, tapestries, college pennants.
- The play: the “dorm” keywords are all maxed on competition. “College pennant” sits far below them at 74, with rising momentum and the best price. It’s the clearest opening on this list.

- Make: monochrome fine-art prints, gallery-wall sets, minimalist photography downloads.
- The play: the literal keywords have thin demand. “Minimalist wall art” is the adjacent term where the demand and the highest price actually live, so frame your B&W prints that way.

Party season. Sell the wrapper, or better, sell the favor.
- Make: personalized candy wrappers, chocolate favors, printable favor tags, custom bottle labels.
- The play: “candy wrapper” is a low-ticket keyword. “Chocolate favors” has top demand, strong momentum, and five times the average price, so it’s a much better use of the same trend.

- The play: “powder room decor” is the standout: the lowest competition here, the strongest momentum, and a higher price than the generic bathroom-art terms.

A softer, gift-driven trend with year-round legs.
- Make: custom recipe books, tradition journals, personalized ornaments, “our family rules” signs.
- The play: “custom cookbook” wins the trade-off: the lowest competition of the group at 77, near-top demand, rising momentum, and the highest price.

Pet content never stops, and this is the strongest set of keywords in the report.
- Make: custom pet portraits, funny pet mugs and tees, pet memorial prints, cat furniture (up 40% too).
- The play: “custom pet portrait” carries top demand, by far the strongest momentum, and the highest price on the whole list. Personalization is why the margins here are the best you’ll find.

Rising, but sell the adjacent product
Some trends are a look or a habit, not an object. They still matter, because the audience is warming up:
- Luxury blonde and wolf-cut hair (+600% / +500%), hair repair (+400%): sell hair accessories, silk scrunchies, satin bonnets, salon gift cards.
- Sunscreen (+157%) and laundry hampers (+106%): you won’t sell these, but they tell you the season buyers are in, which sharpens your photos and gifting angles.
- Sports uniforms (+66%): a nudge for custom team merch and name-and-number printables.
For digital and craft sellers
Quick wins to list this month:
- Scrapbook cover designs (+100%), Minecraft paper crafts (+90%), Toy Story crochet patterns (+70%) for the DIY and Crafts crowd.
- Fantasy painting ideas (+70%) for printable art and coloring pages.
- Baby food recipe cards and baby sewing patterns (both +200%), plus educational toys (+100%) for parenting printables and patterns.
A worked example: one trend into listings
Take dorm bedding, up 600% with a July deadline. Here’s how I’d work it in an afternoon:
1. Widen the trend into products you can make: a college pennant, a custom name banner, a move-in checklist printable. Three products, one theme. 2. Validate before you build. The table above already did the first pass: “college pennant” beats the crowded “dorm decor” keywords on competition. Confirm it in the Keyword Explorer for your exact product. (Demand is the number-one factor in whether an item sells, so don’t skip this.) 3. List with the keyword up front. Etsy weighs the first 40 characters of your title most. Photograph the pennant styled on a dorm wall so it reads in context. 4. Pin it. Make two or three Pinterest pins per listing while the trend is still climbing and link them to the listing. What I’d prioritize this month
- Deadlines and proven categories first: college pennants (July clock), wedding cake toppers and chocolate favors (peak season, quick to produce).
- Best openings: custom cookbook and powder room decor both pair low competition with real demand.
- Best price: custom pet portraits, always safe when animal content spikes.
- Skip the pure-styling trends unless you already sell the adjacent product. A bandana hairstyle surge only helps if you can list a silk scarf this week.
What are Pinterest Trends and why should Etsy sellers care?
Pinterest Trends is Pinterest’s free tool showing which searches are rising, by region and category. Because Pinterest is a planning platform, its rising searches often lead Etsy buying by a few weeks. Watching them lets you list into demand while it’s still climbing.
How often should I check Pinterest Trends?
Monthly is enough for planning. Pick the biggest movers, act on the two or three that fit your shop, and check again next month.
Do high Pinterest percentages mean high Etsy sales?
Not on their own. A big jump usually means a term is rising off a small base. Treat the percentage as direction, then validate the real demand on Etsy before you produce.
How do I pick the right keyword for a trend?
Don’t default to the obvious one. As the tables above show, the literal keyword for a trend is often the most crowded. Look one step sideways for a related keyword with similar demand but lower competition, then check its 30-day momentum to make sure it’s still rising.
When should I list for a seasonal trend?
Earlier than feels comfortable. Buyers shop dorm decor about six weeks before move-in and wedding extras well before the date. List while a trend is rising, not when it peaks, so you’re ranking and pinned before the crowd.
