Last updated: August 2, 2026
Pinterest is where buying decisions start. People plan weddings, nurseries, parties, and the new school year there weeks before they open Etsy. That gap between pinning and buying is your window.
Every month I pull the biggest Pinterest movers, match them to things you can actually sell on Etsy, then check the real demand in Listadum before recommending anything. This is the August 2026 read. The percentages are the month-over-month rise in Pinterest activity as of August 1, so these are climbing, not peaking. You want to be early.
How to read this
Three quick rules before the list:
- A big percentage means “rising,” not “huge.” A term up 4,000% is often coming off a tiny base. A trend up 200% that thousands of people search beats it.
- Not every trend is a product. Some map straight to Etsy items. Others are a look or a moment, and your job is to sell the thing around it (the press-on nails, the porch sign, the party keepsake).
- Pinterest shows the mood. Etsy shows the money. Always validate demand on Etsy before you make anything.
Under each trend below is a keyword breakdown from Listadum’s Keyword Explorer. Here is how to read those columns:
- Comp %ile: competition, 0 to 100. Higher means more crowded and harder to rank.
- Demand %ile: how much search traffic the keyword pulls versus everything else. Higher is better.
- 30d momentum: the change in views on the top listings over the last 30 days. Up means the keyword is heating up, down means cooling.
- Avg price: average price across the top 100 listings.
The keyword I’d chase for each trend is in bold. The sweet spot is high demand, lower competition, and rising momentum.
The full August landscape
Most trend lists hand you a tidy ten and hope you don’t ask where they came from. Here’s where ours came from: every climbing Pinterest search this month, across all 15 categories plus shopping and editors’ picks. That’s 40+ movers. Then we run each one through the same test (below), and only 10 survive.
Here’s the whole board, grouped by verdict. The 10 that made the cut each get a full write-up below; the rest are here so you can see what we passed on, and why.
| Verdict | Trends this month (month-over-month rise) |
|---|---|
| ✅ Made the cut (10) | Bento box meals +8,000%, DIY activities for kids +4,000%, Engagement ring stones +3,000%, Crochet bat patterns +1,500%, Bright French tip nails +900%, Jewelry color choices +600%, Baby shower games +200%, Fall porch decorating +100%, Decorative trays +32%, Candle holders and stands +6% |
| 👀 One to watch | Senior parking spot designs +40% (rising on Pinterest, barely on Etsy yet) |
| ⏭️ Skipped, recipe or mood | Home inspiration +10,001%, 3D kitchen design +7,500%, scone varieties +4,000%, long hair color +2,000%, bedroom aesthetics +1,500%, garden pool designs +1,000%, keto snacks +500%, wedding appetizers +300% |
| ⏭️ Skipped, licensed | Erling Haaland wallpapers +1,500%, digital art wallpapers +5,500% |
| 🔖 On the bench (real products, later) | Textured crochet patterns +1,000%, heart-shaped wedding cakes +60%, Christmas stockings +41%, backpacks +73%, apple-themed preschool activities +100%, funny animal photos +300% |
How we validate a trend
A rising Pinterest percentage only means a search is climbing. It says nothing about whether anyone is buying, or whether the Etsy shelf is already packed. So every trend runs four steps before it earns a page:
- Pull every climbing Pinterest trend by Pin saves, month over month. No cherry-picking.
- Map it to the Etsy keywords people actually buy under. Pinterest is the mood, Etsy is the money.
- Validate each keyword in the Keyword Explorer: competition, demand, momentum, price. Chase the open cousin, not the crowded obvious term.
- Sanity-check the real bestsellers: combine keywords, drop licensed and off-theme listings, and confirm 12 distinct products actually exist. If they don’t, the trend is “rising on Pinterest, not big on Etsy yet,” and we say so instead of faking it.
That last step is why senior parking spot designs sits in the watch row and not the top ten: the Pinterest interest is real, but the only true product on Etsy is a paint stencil kit, and there are barely two of them. Rising, not ready.
The 10 trends at a glance
| # | Pinterest trend | Best Etsy keyword | Competition | Avg price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bento box meals (+8,000%) | lunch box name tag | 71 | $13 |
| 2 | DIY activities for kids (+4,000%) | toddler busy book | 89 | $9 |
| 3 | Engagement ring stones (+3,000%) | engagement ring box | 88 | $32 |
| 4 | Crochet bat patterns (+1,500%) | crochet bat pattern | 70 | $5 |
| 5 | Bright French tip nails (+900%) | short press on nails | 92 | $27 |
| 6 | Jewelry color choices (+600%) | custom name necklace | 97 | $47 |
| 7 | Baby shower games (+200%) | baby shower guest book | 85 | $15 |
| 8 | Fall porch decorating (+100%) | fall porch sign | 86 | $46 |
| 9 | Decorative trays (+32%) | ottoman tray | 75 | $99 |
| 10 | Candle holders and stands (+6%) | pillar candle holder | 83 | $48 |
The pattern worth noticing: the obvious keyword for a trend is usually the most crowded one. The money is often in the close cousin next to it (a crochet bat pattern instead of “halloween crochet pattern,” an ottoman tray instead of “decorative tray,” a pillar candle holder instead of “candle holder”).

Bento box meals (+8,000%)
The single biggest Pinterest mover this month, and it lands right on back-to-school. You won’t sell the bento box itself (those are mass-produced), so sell what every kid’s box and bag needs: a name on it.
- Make: lunch box name tags, waterproof name labels and stickers, insulated lunch bags and totes, backpack and lunchbag sets, pencil cases.
- The play: “lunch box name tag” is the opening, competition 71 with near-top demand and momentum climbing +912. Bento searches are peaking now while parents prep for the first day, so list this week, not in September.
| Keyword | Comp %ile | Demand %ile | 30d momentum | Avg price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| lunch box name tag | 71 | 97 | ↑ +912 | $13 |
| bento box | 79 | 95 | ↑ +3,200 | $28 |
| personalized lunch box | 87 | 99 | ↑ +156 | $21 |
| kids lunch bag | 87 | 94 | ↑ +159 | $27 |
DIY activities for kids (+4,000%)
Parents plan the school-year routine on Pinterest right now. This one maps straight to Etsy.
- Make: felt quiet books, toddler busy books, busy binders, printable activity packs, Montessori learning printables.
- The play: “toddler busy book” carries top demand with the strongest momentum in this group, and it sits below the printable keywords on competition. It’s the clearest opening here, and it prints or ships either way.
| Keyword | Comp %ile | Demand %ile | 30d momentum | Avg price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| toddler busy book | 89 | 100 | ↑ +313 | $9 |
| busy book | 92 | 99 | ↑ +11 | $7 |
| kids activity printable | 99 | 66 | ↑ +101 | $4 |
| printable kids activities | 99 | 30 | ↓ -29 | $4 |
Engagement ring stones (+3,000%)
Proposal season builds through the fall. You won’t sell the ring, so sell what holds it and celebrates it.
- Make: velvet ring boxes, ceramic ring dishes and trays, “she said yes” signs, engagement embossers, ring holders.
- The play: the generic gift and holder keywords are all maxed on competition. “Engagement ring box” keeps top demand at competition 88, the lowest of the crowded group, with the highest price. If you want the truly open lane, “she said yes sign” sits way down at 62.
| Keyword | Comp %ile | Demand %ile | 30d momentum | Avg price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| engagement ring box | 88 | 100 | ↓ -256 | $32 |
| engagement gift | 100 | 100 | ↑ +805 | $18 |
| ring holder | 97 | 100 | ↑ +292 | $20 |
| ring dish | 97 | 100 | ↑ +258 | $19 |
| she said yes sign | 62 | 41 | ↑ +35 | $17 |
Crochet bat patterns (+1,500%)
Halloween crafters start early, and this is the best opening on the whole list.
- Make: crochet bat pattern PDFs, amigurumi spooky bundles, gothic and witch-hat patterns, floppy-bat plush patterns.
- The play: “crochet bat pattern” is the rare high-demand keyword sitting at competition 70, and it’s rising. The digital patterns behind it post big daily views within a week or two of listing. This is a same-week entry.
| Keyword | Comp %ile | Demand %ile | 30d momentum | Avg price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| crochet bat pattern | 70 | 99 | ↑ +56 | $5 |
| amigurumi bat | 68 | 99 | ↑ +12 | $8 |
| crochet pattern halloween | 91 | 97 | ↑ +80 | $5 |
| halloween crochet pattern | 91 | 94 | ↑ +81 | $6 |
Bright French tip nails (+900%)
A styling trend you can supply directly with press-ons.
- Make: short press-on nail sets, custom press-ons, coffin and almond shapes, colorful French-tip designs.
- The play: “press on nails” is maxed at 98. “Short press on nails” keeps near-top demand at competition 92 with rising momentum, and short sets are the shape buyers reach for daily. Build there.
| Keyword | Comp %ile | Demand %ile | 30d momentum | Avg price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| short press on nails | 92 | 97 | ↑ +212 | $27 |
| custom press on nails | 94 | 98 | ↑ +98 | $30 |
| coffin press on nails | 89 | 83 | ↑ +125 | $27 |
| press on nails | 98 | 100 | ↑ +1,374 | $31 |
Jewelry color choices (+600%)
Personalized jewelry never cools, and color and birthstone angles are climbing again.
- Make: custom name necklaces, birthstone necklaces and rings, personalized pendants, color-choice jewelry.
- The play: every keyword here is crowded, so this is a demand-and-personalization play rather than an open lane. “Custom name necklace” carries the strongest momentum in the whole report and a high price, so compete on personalization and photos, not on being early.
| Keyword | Comp %ile | Demand %ile | 30d momentum | Avg price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| custom name necklace | 97 | 100 | ↑ +2,762 | $47 |
| birthstone ring | 99 | 100 | ↑ +543 | $83 |
| personalized necklace | 99 | 100 | ↑ +178 | $38 |
| birthstone necklace | 99 | 98 | ↓ -2 | $47 |
Baby shower games (+200%)
Shower planning is a printable and keepsake goldmine, but the obvious keyword is a wall of competition.
- Make: baby shower guest books, printable game packs, advice cards, shower signs, keepsake prints.
- The play: “baby shower games” is maxed at 99. “Baby shower guest book” keeps high demand at competition 85 with a higher price and rising momentum. It’s the keepsake buyers actually pay up for.
| Keyword | Comp %ile | Demand %ile | 30d momentum | Avg price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| baby shower guest book | 85 | 92 | ↑ +66 | $15 |
| baby shower sign | 99 | 96 | ↑ +1,907 | $11 |
| baby shower games | 99 | 100 | ↑ +310 | $8 |
| baby shower printables | 99 | 58 | ↑ +8 | $5 |
Fall porch decorating (+100%)
Autumn decor searches climb every August. Sell the sign, not the pumpkins.
- Make: fall porch signs, welcome signs, door hangers, layered porch decor, autumn typography prints.
- The play: “fall porch sign” has the lowest competition and the best demand of the fall-decor group, plus a healthy $46 price. List it now so you rank before the September rush.
| Keyword | Comp %ile | Demand %ile | 30d momentum | Avg price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| fall porch sign | 86 | 73 | ↑ +9 | $46 |
| fall welcome sign | 89 | 78 | ↓ -20 | $34 |
| fall door hanger | 94 | 51 | ↑ +28 | $48 |
| fall porch decor | 93 | 44 | ↑ +39 | $81 |
One to watch: senior parking spot designs (+40%)
This one is rising on Pinterest but not big on Etsy yet, so it’s a watch, not a top-ten pick. Worth flagging because that gap is the opportunity.
Parents and seniors are pinning decorated parking spots for the new school year, but when you search Etsy, there’s almost no product to buy: the results are senior-year shirts, photo gifts, and a couple of parking-spot paint stencil kits (both listed within the last month, ~80 to 130 views a day). No crowded shelf, almost no competition. If you make signage or stencils, listing a “senior parking spot stencil kit” now means owning a niche before it fills in. Just know you’re building the category, not entering a proven one, which is exactly why it didn’t make the validated ten.
Decorative trays (+32%)
This is a clicks-driven shopping trend, which means people are ready to buy. The trick is dodging the saturated keyword.
- Make: ottoman trays, wooden serving trays, personalized trays, decorative catch-alls.
- The play: “decorative tray” is saturated and cooling. “Ottoman tray” sits at competition 75 with top demand and a $99 average price, nearly triple the generic term. This is the cousin play at its clearest.
| Keyword | Comp %ile | Demand %ile | 30d momentum | Avg price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ottoman tray | 75 | 100 | ↓ -1,257 | $99 |
| wooden tray | 95 | 97 | ↑ +227 | $51 |
| personalized tray | 95 | 86 | ↓ -229 | $51 |
| decorative tray | 98 | 99 | ↓ -3,103 | $36 |
Candle holders and stands (+6%)
A slower climber, but an evergreen home product with a genuine opening.
- Make: pillar candle holders, taper holders, candle holder sets, sculptural stands.
- The play: “candle holder” is maxed at 99. “Pillar candle holder” drops to 75 competition with a $48 price and solid demand. Lower ceiling on volume, but a real lane if home decor is your shop.
| Keyword | Comp %ile | Demand %ile | 30d momentum | Avg price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| pillar candle holder | 83 | 75 | ↓ -202 | $48 |
| candle holder set | 93 | 79 | ↑ +28 | $70 |
| taper candle holder | 90 | 95 | ↓ -108 | $24 |
| candle holder | 99 | 66 | ↑ +3 | $23 |
Rising, but sell the adjacent product
Some trends are a look or a habit, not an object. They still matter, because the audience is warming up:
- Long hair color, butterfly layers, luxury blonde (+2,000% / +700% / +600%): sell hair accessories, silk scrunchies, satin bonnets, claw clips.
- Baby pink outfits (+3,500%) and white summer dresses (+1,000%): you won’t sell the outfit, but the palette sharpens your photo styling and gifting angles.
- Backpacks (+72%) and mascaras (+88%) in shopping trends: these tell you buyers are in back-to-school and everyday-beauty mode, which is a nudge for name labels, bag charms, and makeup pouches.
For digital and craft sellers
Quick wins to list this month:
- Textured crochet patterns (+1,000%) and the crochet bat cluster for the DIY and Crafts crowd.
- Digital art wallpapers (+5,500%) for printable and phone-wallpaper downloads (watch for licensed characters, keep it original).
- Homemade recipe trends (+400%) for printable recipe cards and family cookbook templates.
- Baby shower and toddler printables (+200% / +4,000%) for the parenting crowd, from game packs to busy-book pages.

A worked example: one trend into listings
Take crochet bat patterns, up 1,500% with a Halloween clock. Here’s how I’d work it in an afternoon:
- Widen the trend into products you can make: a crochet bat pattern, a spooky amigurumi bundle, a gothic decor pattern. Three products, one theme.
- Validate before you build. The table above already did the first pass: “crochet bat pattern” beats the “halloween crochet pattern” keywords on competition at 70. Confirm it in the Keyword Explorer for your exact product. (Demand is the number-one factor in whether an item sells, so don’t skip this.)
- List with the keyword up front. Etsy weighs the first 40 characters of your title most, so lead with “crochet bat pattern.” Photograph the finished plush styled in a little Halloween scene so it reads in context.
- Pin it. Make two or three Pinterest pins per listing while the trend is still climbing and link them to the listing. Auto-Pin turns your listings into pins so you’re not building each one by hand.
That’s the whole loop: rising search, adjacent product, demand check, keyworded listing, pins back in. Repeat it for any trend in the tables above.

What I’d prioritize this month
- Deadlines and proven categories first: crochet bat patterns and fall porch signs (seasonal clock), toddler busy books (back-to-school routine planning).
- Best openings: crochet bat pattern (competition 70), lunch box name tag (71), and ottoman tray (75) all pair lower competition with real demand.
- Best price: ottoman trays ($99) and custom name necklaces ($47), both safe when the demand is this deep.
- Skip the pure-styling trends unless you already sell the adjacent product. A butterfly-layers hair surge only helps if you can list a claw clip or scrunchie this week.
What are Pinterest Trends and why should Etsy sellers care?
Pinterest Trends is Pinterest’s free tool showing which searches and saves are rising, by region and category. Because Pinterest is a planning platform, its rising searches often lead Etsy buying by a few weeks. Watching them lets you list into demand while it’s still climbing.
How often should I check Pinterest Trends?
Monthly is enough for planning. Pick the biggest movers, act on the two or three that fit your shop, and check again next month.
Do high Pinterest percentages mean high Etsy sales?
Not on their own. A big jump usually means a term is rising off a small base. Treat the percentage as direction, then validate the real demand on Etsy before you produce.
How do I pick the right keyword for a trend?
Don’t default to the obvious one. As the tables above show, the literal keyword for a trend is often the most crowded. Look one step sideways for a related keyword with similar demand but lower competition, then check its 30-day momentum to make sure it’s still rising.
When should I list for a seasonal trend?
Earlier than feels comfortable. Buyers shop Halloween crafts and fall decor weeks ahead, and proposal and shower gifts well before the date. List while a trend is rising, not when it peaks, so you’re ranking and pinned before the crowd.
