The best way to link your Etsy shop to Instagram is a Share & Save link in your Instagram bio. Etsy refunds 4% of an order when the buyer orders within 30 days of tapping it (6.5% through January 4). Etsy can also connect to your Instagram to share recent listings. Then keep posting, even in busy weeks.
- Join Share & Save in Shop Manager, under Marketing.
- Copy your shop link in the yourshopname.etsy.com format.
- Add it to your Instagram bio: Edit profile, then Links, then Add external link.
- Keep posting your listings, by hand or with Auto-post.
Four different things get called “linking Etsy to Instagram”. Here’s what each one takes.
How do I add my Etsy link to my Instagram bio?
Start in Etsy, not Instagram. Open Shop Manager, go to Marketing, select Share & Save and choose Join now. Then copy your shop link from the Share & Save page. The program counts shop links in the yourshopname.etsy.com format.
Now open the Instagram app on your phone (this setting isn’t on the website). Tap Edit profile, then Links, then Add external link, and paste it.
The bio isn’t the only spot. Instagram Stories use a link sticker now that swipe up is gone, so a Story can carry your shop link.
What does a Share & Save link pay back?
On a $100 order, shipping included, you get $4 back in your Etsy Payment account. Through January 4, the same order returns $6.50.
Three things don’t count. Links you send in Etsy Messages don’t, and neither do links in your listing descriptions. And Etsy credits the last link a buyer clicked, so if they come back through an Offsite Ad before they order, the sale goes to the ad.
If you track your numbers in Listadum, Profit Tracking (Growth plan and above) lists your Share & Save credits next to your Etsy fees, so you can see what the bio link brings back.
How do I add my Instagram to my Etsy shop?
Going the other way is one field. It’s in Shop Manager under Settings, then Your shop, then the Shop home editor. Open About. The Links field takes a website, blog or social media profile, so buyers on your shop page can find your Instagram.
Can I share Etsy listings to Instagram from Etsy?
Yes. Etsy’s Social Media tool is under Marketing in Shop Manager. Choose Social accounts to connect your Instagram. From there you build a post from a set of choices, such as your latest listings (up to your 25 most recent), a sale or coupon, or a 5-star review.
In the Etsy Seller app, Share copies a listing’s link to your phone’s clipboard. You then open Instagram, make the post and paste the link in yourself.
Both work for a new listing. With 300 listings, that’s you choosing, captioning and posting each one yourself, every time.
Can I tag Etsy products on Instagram?
Product tags are Meta’s shop, not Etsy’s. Setting them up runs through Facebook. It asks you to verify your shopname.etsy.com domain, you paste Facebook’s code into Shop Manager under Settings and Facebook Shops, and then you add each listing to your own Facebook catalog by its URL. Meta then reviews your account against its commerce rules, which include being in a supported country.
That review is where sellers get stuck. On r/Etsy in 2023, one seller wrote, “Last time they denied me and said Etsy wasn’t an approved domain,” and another seller in the same thread was turned down for selling digital downloads.
No app that posts through Instagram’s API can add the tags for you, either. Meta’s rules for publishing through it say plainly: “Shopping tags are not supported.” I’d set up the bio link and the posting first. Tags can come later, or not at all.
How do I post Etsy listings to Instagram automatically?
First, your account has to be a professional one. Instagram only lets apps publish to professional accounts, Business or Creator. In the Instagram app, open your profile, tap the menu, find For professionals, tap Account type and tools, then Switch to professional account, and pick Creator or Business. If your account is private, it goes public when you switch and accepts every pending follow request, so clean up old posts first if that matters to you.
Then connect it to Listadum under Promote, then Instagram. You sign in with Instagram, so there’s no Facebook Page to set up. Turn on Auto-post and choose one or two posts a day.
Every day, Auto-post picks listings that haven’t had a recent post. It writes the caption and hashtags with AI from the listing’s details, adds your Share & Save link, and publishes to your account. It posts your listing photos as they are, or a fresh image made from them if you turn image generation on. Auto-post comes with the Growth plan and above ($30 a month per shop, or $20 a month billed yearly).
In a 300-listing shop, even two posts a day takes 150 days to give every listing one post. That’s five months of posting every single day, including the weeks you’re buried in orders. At 5 AI credits a post, two a day uses about 300 credits a month, out of the 5,000 a month the Growth plan includes on monthly billing.
When we launched the Instagram integration, my co-founder Cyril described the account most sellers have: “a burst of posts when the shop opened, then a few, then nothing since spring.” And a quiet account, in his words, “looks like a closed shop to anyone who finds it.” Auto-post “keeps the baseline steady,” and your own posts, like process shots and behind-the-scenes clips, go on top.
FAQ
Can I add more than one link to my Instagram bio?
Yes. The Links section under Edit profile holds more than one link, and you can reorder them under Options. Put your Share & Save shop link first.
