Finding tags with the Keyword Generator

Last updated on

The Keyword Generator suggests tags for a listing based on real Etsy search data, so you stop guessing which 13 tags to use.

Get suggestions

Open the Keyword Generator from the listing editor. Based on your title, description, and category, it suggests keywords that real buyers are searching for.

The first step is to describe your product by answering four simple question: what is it, what is made of, who it is for and when it is for. You can have the AI answer this for you by clicking "Auto-fill for me".

Once ready, click the "Generate keywords" button to get a list of 50 potential keywords.

Read the data before you pick

Each suggestion is color coded and positioned on the demand vs. competition matrix. Hover or click over each keyword to get more information about the relative demand and competition.

Add tags to your listing

Add the ones you want straight to your listing from the results by clicking in the + button next to each suggested keyword. Aim for all 13 tag slots, multi-word phrases over single words, and no repeats. (See the listing issues articles on tags for the why.)

Credits

The Keyword Generator uses AI credits (see "How do AI credits work?"). For deeper research across many keywords, use the Keyword Explorer in Market Research.
